Leader Legacy

The measure of great leaders lies not in just their accomplishments, but in the leaders that they develop as their legacy

If we’re concerned about establishing something lasting and bigger than ourselves, it’s not enough to be personally excellent. Truly great leaders don’t fear their replacement, they grow them. A chain of leadership exists in every organization, and every person is at some stage of both learning to lead and teaching to lead.

Empowering employees makes businesses more efficient by pushing decisions down to where the expertise and information are, and develops initiative, skills, and morale in junior leaders. To build a legacy, though, one needs to set the right conditions for success. Two critical practices are to develop competency in others & to impart a clear vision of meaning and purpose.
